Aaron Fredrick Mitchell Jr, AKA AJ Mitchell gained an impressive 60 million streams (and counting) on his first single “Used To Be”. Since then he’s racked up three top 40 hits on the US radio charts in the shape of 2018's “Girls” and this year's “All My Friends” & “Slow Dance” - the latter being part of his forthcoming debut album.
AJ’s latest release “Slow Dance” features fellow MTV Push act, Ava Max and the video is a tribute to the iconic 90’s version of Romeo and Juliet.
Ask Mitchell what he wants to achieve in the next three years and his goals are suitably heady. “I really want to be travelling and doing an international tour,” he says with a broad smile.
“I really want to sell out Madison Square Garden, that would be a dream of mine. Plus just cross off the list of all the collaborators I want to work with.” He then rattles through a list – Lil Nas X, Drake, Lewis Capaldi, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, they're all there – before pausing wide-eyed with excitement. Given what he's achieved so far, and what he's about to do with his debut album, you wouldn't put anything past him.
We’re excited to see what AJ Mitchell has in store and look forward to bringing you exclusive content on musictelevision.fi throughout November.
